v0: plans, prices, strengths and limits

v0 is Vercel's app builder: you describe a web app and an agent writes, runs and fixes the code, then publishes it to Vercel. Hosting is not part of a v0 plan; it runs under your own Vercel plan.

Quick verdict

v0 builds web apps from prompts and works as an agent: it can search the web, use a browser on the apps it builds, run terminal commands and fix errors automatically in an isolated sandbox. You need a Vercel account, because v0 accounts are Vercel accounts. Free has a limit of 7 messages a day and, for new users, $5 of one-time credits (existing Free users keep a $5 monthly allowance), and you cannot buy extra credits. Plus is $30 per user a month, before tax, and a team of one is allowed. It includes $30 of monthly credits plus $2 of free daily credits when you log in, all models and extra credits on demand, with usage billed by model token rates; unused monthly credits roll over one month. The pricing page shows no annual option.

Hosting is a separate decision. Publish deploys your app to Vercel with a vercel.app URL, under your own Vercel plan, which no v0 plan includes. Vercel's Terms say: "You shall only use the Services under a Hobby plan for your personal or non-commercial use." So a commercial app needs a paid Vercel plan in addition to v0. Commercial use of what v0 generates is not verified: the v0 FAQ says "Vercel doesn't own the code generated based on your queries and prompts" and leaves it to you to judge whether the code suits commercial purposes, without saying in words that you may use it commercially.

This verdict rests on what v0 and Vercel document, not on our tests, which we have not run yet. We have not judged the apps v0 builds.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • GitHub sync with pull requestsA chat connected to GitHub commits every change to a working branch and publishes through pull requests. The Free card lists Sync with GitHub, and you can also download single files from the Code tab.
  • An agent that runs its own codev0 documents web search, browser use on the apps it builds, terminal commands and automatic error fixing in an isolated sandbox. All of this draws on your credits.
  • A code editor on every planThe Code tab is a built-in editor for browsing and editing files by hand, for UTF-8 text files up to 1 MB. With GitHub sync you can carry on in your own IDE.
  • One-click database integrationsv0 connects an app to Neon, Supabase, Upstash or Vercel Blob through the Vercel Marketplace. Each one sets up an account with that provider, so database costs follow the provider rather than your v0 plan.
  • Connectors through MCPv0 connects to MCP servers, your own or presets such as Contentful, Context7 and Datadog, plus Vercel Marketplace integrations, GitHub, Figma, Slack, Snowflake and Shopify. The MCP page states no plan restriction.

Limits

  • Hosting is a separate Vercel billCost limit. Publishing runs under your own Vercel plan, which v0 does not include. Vercel's free Hobby plan is for personal or non-commercial use only, so hosting a commercial app needs a paid Vercel plan.
  • Commercial use not verifiedUnverified point. Asked whether you can use v0 output commercially, the FAQ only says Vercel does not own the generated code and that you decide whether it suits commercial purposes. That is not an explicit permission, on Free or Plus.
  • Training opt-out: v0's pages disagreeConflict. The v0 plan table lists Data Opt-out as No for Free and Plus, with opt-out by default on Business. The v0 FAQ and Vercel's Terms say you can opt out of model training in your Vercel team settings.
  • Free is a small trialPlan limit. Free allows 7 messages a day, new users get $5 of one-time credits, and you cannot buy more. Free chat attachments are capped at 5 MB and ZIP uploads at 10 MB, against 20 MB and 50 MB on Plus.
  • No built-in database or sign-inWorkflow limit. v0 has no database or user sign-in service of its own; you add a provider from the Vercel Marketplace and manage that account and its costs.

Based on what Vercel Inc. documents for each plan, not on our tests.

Who it suits

A good fit if you

  • Building web apps by prompt when you already host on Vercel
  • Reviewing every change as a GitHub pull request
  • Adding Neon, Supabase, Upstash or Vercel Blob to an app in one click
  • Trying an app builder on a fixed $5 of free credits

Look elsewhere if you

  • Commercial hosting on a free plan: Vercel Hobby is for personal or non-commercial use
  • Projects that need written commercial rights: not verified on Free or Plus
  • Using v0 on Android or a desktop app: only the web and an iOS app are documented
  • Video, logo design or image upscaling: outside what v0 is for

What it documents for each use

  • Images & Design Create images from a description · Make graphics for posts and slides
  • Coding & Development Code inside my editor · Build an app without writing code · Put an app or site online
  • Business & Productivity Connect AI to the apps I already use

A use is listed when at least one plan documents every feature a task needs. Answer quality is a separate question: see below.

Using it day to day

v0 runs on the web at v0.app and in an iOS app; we found no Android or desktop app in the docs. A v0 API exists for programmatic use, but which plans include it is not verified. You can attach PDF, DOCX and XLSX documents (DOCX and XLSX in VM-backed chats), plus images, video, audio, code and ZIP files: up to 5 MB per attachment and 10 MB per ZIP on Free, and 20 MB and 50 MB on Plus. Uploaded videos can be added to an app, but v0 documents no video generation.

To use your own domain, add it from Publish or from project Settings, Domains; DNS and domain setup happen in the Vercel dashboard, you buy the domain from a registrar, and domain limits follow your Vercel plan. v0 generates and edits images while building, using v0 credits; no per-plan image limits are stated, and whether you can edit an uploaded photo is not verified. Business, at $100 per user a month, is a team plan, and the older Premium plan is no longer available to new users.

Privacy, data and ads

v0's own pages disagree on training. The v0 plan table lists Data Opt-out as No for Free and Plus, and Business has opt-out by default. The v0 FAQ and Vercel's Terms say content from any customer who has opted out of model training in their Vercel settings is not used for training, and point to your Vercel team settings for the switch. Check that setting in your account before you share anything confidential. The FAQ says you can download your prompts and content through your account. Whether v0 shows ads is not verified. v0 accounts are Vercel accounts, so Vercel's privacy policy is the one to read.

Read the vendor's own page: v0 privacy and data controls. We make no legal or compliance claim.

Test results

We have not tested v0 yet, so this page makes no claim about answer quality, and we show no example outputs. Run the same kit in it and in the alternatives, in your own account:

Getting started

  1. Sign in with a Vercel account and start on Free: 7 messages a day and, for new users, $5 of one-time credits.
  2. Open your Vercel team settings and look for the model training opt-out before you share anything confidential, since v0's pages disagree on whether Free and Plus have it.
  3. Connect GitHub so every change lands on a working branch you can review.
  4. Before you publish a commercial app, check your Vercel plan: the free Hobby plan is for personal or non-commercial use only.
  5. If you need more than Free allows, Plus is $30 per user a month before tax. Compare it with Lovable and Replit, and read how we check vendor claims.

Questions

How much does v0 cost?

Free is $0. Plus is $30 per user a month, and v0's pricing page says prices exclude VAT, GST and other taxes, added to the invoice where required. The pricing page shows no annual option. Hosting on Vercel is billed separately under your Vercel plan.

Is hosting included in v0 Plus?

No. Publish deploys to Vercel under your own Vercel account plan, which a v0 plan does not include. Vercel's free Hobby plan is for personal or non-commercial use only, so commercial hosting needs a paid Vercel plan.

Can I use v0's code commercially?

Not verified. The v0 FAQ says Vercel does not own the code generated from your prompts and that you must judge whether it suits commercial purposes, but it gives no explicit permission.

Does v0 train on my projects?

v0's pages disagree. The plan table lists Data Opt-out as No for Free and Plus, while the FAQ and Vercel's Terms say you can opt out of model training in your Vercel team settings. Business has opt-out by default.

Can I get my code out of v0?

Yes. GitHub sync commits every change to a working branch, you can download single files from the Code tab, and the FAQ says you can download your prompts and content through your account.

Does v0 include a database?

Not of its own. v0 offers one-click integrations with Neon, Supabase, Upstash and Vercel Blob through the Vercel Marketplace, each with its own provider account and costs.
